Your wearable sees
what happens
while you sleep.
Sleep apnea affects 1 billion people - most are undiagnosed. Ziva's AI coach Isabella tracks your nightly SpO2, HRV, and sleep fragmentation, finds the patterns your doctor can't see between appointments, and helps you take those patterns to a clinician who can act on them.
Used by people managing sleep apnea alongside their care team.
Ziva Health is an AI-powered health companion for managing conditions like sleep apnea through daily tracking and personalised coaching. Isabella is Ziva's AI health coach - she reads your SpO2, HRV, sleep stage, and heart rate data every night and tells you what's happening to your breathing and recovery while you sleep.
Three steps to understanding your sleep apnea.
Every signal sleep apnea
leaves in your body - tracked nightly.
Ziva pulls data from your wearable automatically every night. Isabella cross-references six data streams to build a complete picture of your breathing, oxygenation, and recovery - so you and your provider have the objective evidence to act on.
Sleep apnea isn't just snoring.
It's in your data every night.
Every apnea event - a pause in breathing - drops your SpO2, spikes your heart rate, suppresses your HRV, and fragments your sleep. Ziva captures all of these signals automatically from your wearable. Isabella connects them into a nightly picture your doctor can finally act on.
Every breath you miss
leaves a trace in your data.
During an apnea event, breathing stops - oxygen drops, heart rate spikes, and sleep fragments. Your wearable records all of it. Isabella reads this trace every morning and tells you what happened: how many drops, how deep, and which part of the night they clustered in.
You sleep 8 hours
but recover like you slept 4.
Each apnea event triggers an adrenaline surge that fragments sleep, suppresses deep sleep stages, and crushes HRV. Ziva measures this recovery deficit directly - so you stop wondering why you're exhausted after a "full" night's sleep, and start showing your doctor the objective evidence.
Some nights are worse.
Isabella tells you exactly why.
Sleep apnea severity varies night to night based on factors you can control - alcohol within 3 hours of bed, sleep position, body weight, and sedative medications. Ziva tracks these alongside your SpO2 and HRV and builds the causal map between your habits and your worst nights.
Isabella builds your sleep apnea
management routine around your data.
Not a generic checklist - a routine shaped by what your nightly data shows is actually making your apnea better or worse: what to avoid, when to exercise, how to set up your sleep environment, and how to report progress to your care team.
What the science says.
Every feature in Ziva's sleep apnea tracking is grounded in peer-reviewed evidence - Isabella explains the mechanism, not just the metric.
Your doctor needs
nights of data, not
one appointment.
Sleep apnea is diagnosed and managed on patterns - not single nights. Ziva gives your provider 30 nights of SpO2, HRV, and sleep data in a clear report they can review in minutes.
What is sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea is a chronic disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Each pause - called an apnea event - lasts 10 seconds or longer and causes oxygen to drop, heart rate to spike, and the brain to briefly rouse from sleep to restore breathing. This cycle can repeat hundreds of times per night without the person ever knowing. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common form, caused by the throat muscles relaxing and blocking the airway. Central sleep apnea is less common and involves the brain failing to signal the breathing muscles correctly.
Severity — the AHI scale
Sleep apnea is clinically measured by the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) - the number of breathing events per hour of sleep. This is measured in a formal polysomnography (sleep study).
Signs and symptoms
Because apnea events happen during sleep, most people can't observe them directly. The signs are often indirect:
- →Excessive daytime sleepiness — falling asleep easily despite adequate time in bed; the most common complaint
- →Loud, chronic snoring — often the first sign noticed by a partner; snoring with gasping or choking is strongly associated with OSA
- →Morning headaches — caused by CO₂ buildup and cerebral vasodilation during low-oxygen episodes
- →Waking unrefreshed — sleeping 7–9 hours but feeling like you slept 4; a hallmark of fragmented, non-restorative sleep
- →Frequent nighttime urination — apnea events stimulate atrial natriuretic peptide release, increasing urine production
- →Cognitive impairment — difficulty concentrating, memory issues, and mood changes driven by chronic sleep fragmentation
- →Low wearable HRV — chronically suppressed HRV that doesn't respond to typical recovery habits is a strong objective signal
Risk factors
OSA is significantly more common in people who are:
- →Overweight or obese — excess fat deposits around the upper airway narrow the lumen during sleep
- →Male — men are 2–3× more likely to have OSA; women's risk increases post-menopause
- →Over 40 — muscle tone decreases with age, including the upper airway muscles
- →Regular alcohol use — alcohol is a muscle relaxant that dramatically worsens airway collapse during sleep
- →Nasal obstruction — chronic congestion from allergies or a deviated septum increases airway resistance
- →Family history — craniofacial anatomy and airway structure are partly hereditary
Long-term consequences of untreated sleep apnea
Untreated sleep apnea is not simply a sleep quality issue - it drives serious systemic disease over time:
- →Hypertension — 3× higher risk; apnea is a leading cause of treatment-resistant high blood pressure
- →Atrial fibrillation — the repeated oxygen desaturation and pressure changes structurally remodel the left atrium
- →Type 2 diabetes — chronic sleep fragmentation causes insulin resistance independent of weight
- →Depression and anxiety — driven partly by sleep deprivation and partly by hypoxia's direct effect on neurotransmitter balance
- →Motor vehicle accidents — daytime sleepiness from severe OSA raises crash risk 2–7×
What people ask.
Ziva Health is a wellness and health-coaching app. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose sleep apnea or any other condition. All content is for informational purposes only. A formal diagnosis requires a clinical sleep study. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
